Organized but in a disoriented way
Book Cover Design
“Orientation” is the title of a short story. After reading this sarcastic, yet intriguing story, I started the design process to create a title page. The story was organized but in a disoriented way. My goal was to express this in the title page and show the overall concept of “Orientation”. I chose to cut up strips of white paper, because in the story, they mention a paper shredder, multiple times. When I think of a paper shredder, an image that comes to mind is papers stripped and fumbled. With the word “Orientation” typed on a paper, I chose to cut up the paper into strips so that the type was integrated with the image. I photographed the paper that I cut up with the word “Orientation” typed on it. The blood symbolizes the mystery of the short story because in the end, someone ends up getting killed. Throughout the entire story, the killer is unknown, and even after reading, it is still a mystery.
